Gift Guides

Beginning this month through December, I’ll be featuring the best in birding and nature products in a series of gift guides. These items will range from art to bird feeders, books to clothing.

Online Shop

The online shop is finally open! BirdsNatureLife launched on Etsy late in October, so please stop by. Inventory will continue to be updated throughout the year. In the shop, you’ll find t-shirts, notecards, ebooks (yes, ebooks), calendars, and more! Etsy is a secure shopping platform which is why I chose it to host the shop! Check it out!

Gift Guide to Bird Houses

1. Cedar Bird House

This bird house is made by WildBird Care. The WildBird Care Cedar Bluebird House has three neat features.

  • Easy to open, pull-out front door with a latch.
  • Ventilation holes to keep birds cool in hot weather.
  • Drainage tray, that will encourage airflow and help keep moisture to a minimum.

Also, it’s highly rated. Check it out here.

2. Nature’s Way Bird House

The second bird house in the Gift Guide to Bird Houses is similar to #1. The Nature’s Way Bird House has the added benefit of a predator guard.

The predator guard works by increasing the length of  the entrance hole, making it more difficult for a raccoon to “dip” its paws in and collect an egg (or a young bird).

  • Predator Guard.
  • Drainage grate and air vents on bottom.
  • Easy to open, pull-out front door with a latch.

Like #1 in the Gift Guide to Bird Houses it is highly rated by customers. The two main differences are the predator guard, air vents, and price. This bird house is about $1-$2 cheaper.

3. Gilbertson PVC & Cedar Bird House

The Gilbertson PVC & Cedar Bird House is my favorite bird house to use. This bird house is suitable for several species of cavity dwelling birds, including Bluebirds, Chickadees, Wrens, Tree Swallows, and Prothonotary Warblers.

I monitor over 100 nesting boxes and this is a highly functional nesting box.

  • High functionality and easy to use.
  • Easy to clean. Just turn over and dump out.
  • Top opening design for maximum nestling protection.

Please see this post for how to set up the boxes and do not hesitate to send me an email with questions!

Check it out here.

4. Clear View Window Bird House

Window bird feeders and window bird houses are a lot of fun. These types of bird houses can offer you an up close and person look at the nesting process from the comfort of your own home.

The Clear View Window Bird House is an excellent choice for getting these closer looks. It’s easy to clean, and highly rated by buyers.

  • Lifetime warranty.
  • Easy to clean.
  • Unique viewing opportunities.

Be sure to adhere the suction cups to a clean window. Use windex, or rubbing alcohol to clean the surface. If you have issues with suction, try putting the tiniest amount of cooking oil on center part of the suction cups.

As with any window or reflective surface, be sure to treat your windows to prevent bird strikes.

Check it out here.

5. Audubon Traditional Wren House

The Audubon Traditional Wren House will house Wrens and Chickadees! This is a very simple design that you can just hang on a tree branch or on a Shepherd Hook.

  • Easy to hang.
  • Drainage and ventilation holes.
  • Traditional bird house design.

Check it out here.

That’s it for this Gift Guide to Bird Houses. I’ll be scouring the web for the best products and gift ideas all season long, so stay tuned!
